Even CIC occasionally makes mistakes!

작성자: steve ㅣ 게시판: Case Status ㅣ 작성일 : March 30th, 2011

Good Morning Canadians (or soon to be Canadians),

We have exciting news today!

After submitting a federal PR application to the Buffalo Visa Office based on a PNP approval, we received a request for our client’s original passport. Finally! (The waits for approvals seem to be getting longer and longer…..such is CIC’s work load).

The above paragraph sounds just normal, doesn’t it? However, there was a little incident behind. Let tell you the story.

After a bit more time than the average processing time according to the CIC website passed, we sensed that there was something unusual with the client’s case. We quickly requested the client’s case information from the Seattle Visa Office (the client’s case had been transferred from the Buffalo Visa Office to the Seattle Visa Office) and found out that the Seattle Visa Office had been waiting for the client’s PR Visa issuance without any reason. CIC forgot to request the client’s passport until we made them aware of the situation! It is so unfortunate that the client had to take the medical exam twice and spend the extra unnecessary time waiting, but now, we know everything is back on track.

The Seattle Visa Office promised to swiftly issue the client’s PR Visa, so we will keep you posted.

It pays to stay on top of your case!

Congratulations, Ms. HJ Bang!

In-Canada Sponsorship 1st 2011 Approval!

Dear Readers,

Today I received another approval for a spousal sponsorship application, which was filed within Canada.

His application was filed in May 2010, and it took us about 9 months for the initial approval, so now he can apply for an open work permit or study permit while waiting for the final approval.

Mr. JW was once an immigrant in Canada but since he did not meet the residency obligation, he lost his Permanent Residency status, so his wife is sponsoring the husband to help him regain his PR status.

This weekend, I am playing golf with him and I will take a photo and update the blog post.

Great Vietnamese food at a place with a Cambodian Name, Phnom Pehn

If you live in Vancouver or if you are planning a visit and love Vietnamese food, you have to make a trip to Phnom Pehn. This restaurant, like many great food stops, has a very unassuming exterior as soon as you walk through the door you realize something is different here. For one thing, from opening to closing, the place is packed (and there is generally a line)! So be prepared to wait for approximately 30 minutes for a table. Secondly, this is the most multicultural crowd you’ll see anywhere. Most customers are asian but they aren’t just Vietnamese but they Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Thai…..their commonality is that they all recognize great Asian cooking.

The food here is incredibly fresh and the tastes are tantalizingly harmonious. As a westerner, I frequently find Asian restaurants to be inconsistent with their liberal use of spices (especially chilis!)….they lack a harmony and all you get is that one note but not Phom Pehn. At PP the food is almost symphonic in it’s harmony! The shrimp is always cooked perfectly, the fried foods are never greasy and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for such high quality food.

Give it a try and you will quickly see why people flock to their door!

The highly respect economic journal released it’s list of the 10 most livable cities in the world using these criteria:

1. Availability of basic community needs (building, water supply, electricity, etc.)
2. Availability of public facilities (parks, sidewalks, houses of worship, etc.)
3. Availability of facilities to support the economic sector, social, political, and cultural
4. Availability of space and place to interact and develop
5. Comfort, safety, physical beauty, as well as the progress of development and environment-friendly technology

Number 5 in the top 10 was the City of Calgary in neighboring Alberta.

BUT, number 1…..Numero Uno…….was the great City of VANCOUVER!!!!!
